Reese's nearest competitor heading into this week, Edwin Evers, rose 25 places in the standings today, all the way from 38th to 13th, and while he won't be fishing tomorrow, he's maintained his position in second entering the post-season. Evers' brother-in-law Terry Butcher will also make the drive back to Talala, Okla. without fishing another day of competition, but his 20th place finish this week assured him that he'll make the post-season a year after he qualified for his first Classic. He moved up from 6th to 5th this week, with one day left for a slight shuffling. Complete Story |

Moving to Biffle's backyard |
|
Another local angler, Terry Butcher, who finished third last week on Kentucky Lake, agreed with Biffle about the fishing on Fort Gibson. "I think with the river conditions it's something we have to do," Butcher said. "Personally, I kind of like it. I'd much rather catch them over there, but we'll see what happens. On this lake, you can do just about whatever you want to do — fish shallow or fish out." Complete Story |

Terry Butcher Gives Time to the Military |
|
A lot of people in the United States take for granted our freedoms. The fact we can do what we please – within the law of course – when we please is a concept that most assume is shared worldwide. That is so not the case.
We have our founding fathers to thank for setting these freedoms in place – for it was their foresight that has allowed us as citizens of the United States to become what we are today along with helping make this country what it is. But, aside from our founding fathers, we have many others to thank for protecting our freedoms. Those folks we need to be indebted to belong to the military. Complete Story |

10th Place: Terry Butcher |

Mark Jeffreys/BasZone.com |
Final-Day Thoughts: “I really thought, after the first hour or so this morning that I would really have a shot at running up the leader board because I’d already caught the bulk of what I weighed in.”
Bait of Choice: Heddon Rattlin’ Zara Spook; Green Pumpkin YUM Wooly Bug
Biggest Challenge: “I didn’t have that afternoon bite today like I’ve been having. They’re probably out there going crazy right now.”
Key to the Week: “All three days of the week, until today, my biggest fish came in the last 30 minutes of the day. That was really the key to keeping me in the hunt. Unfortunately, it just didn’t happen that way today.”
Week in Review: “Looking back, I can’t say that there’s anything I would’ve done differently. I really didn’t go into the tournament thinking I was going to catch them on top water, but after the first morning when it was overcast, I never laid it down. It worked out pretty well.” Complete Story |

37 earn spots in Bassmaster Classic |

BASS Communications / Seigo Saito |
Thanks to his 10th-place finish at Oneida, Butcher said Sunday what he feels most is relief for having made his first Bassmaster Classic.
"It's been a very stressful week," said Butcher, 38. "On the water today I caught them pretty quickly, so I was pretty confident. But then I was still a little nervous because I thought the door was still open for the other guys.
"The Classic has been my ultimate goal since I've been fishing. I'm not the kind of guy who shows a lot of emotion, but I'm very excited."
Butcher said when he arrived at Oneida this past week he believed he had no chance to qualify for the Classic, even if he won the tournament. Complete Story
